Quality Assurance

3-Stage Quality Verification
& Auto-Dispute Recovery

Every bunker delivery verified against ISO 8217 standards through a three-stage chain: supplier test report, BDN delivery specs, and independent lab analysis. Deviations trigger automatic disputes.

The 3-Stage Verification Chain

1

Stage 1: Supplier Test Report

Before delivery, the supplier sends their fuel test report. Your analyst logs the specs — density, viscosity, sulfur, cat fines, CCAI, flash point. This sets the baseline expectation for the delivery.

2

Stage 2: BDN Delivery Specs

At delivery, the Bunker Delivery Note records the actual fuel specs. TRIVOYA compares BDN values against the supplier's pre-delivery test report. Any deviations are flagged immediately.

3

Stage 3: Independent Lab Results

Your retained sample goes to FOBAS or VPS for independent analysis. Lab results are compared against both the BDN and the supplier test report. If cat fines, sulfur, water, or density deviate beyond thresholds — a dispute is auto-created.

Non-negotiable hard limits (auto-dispute triggered): Sulfur >0.50% (VLSFO), Flash point <60°C, Cat fines >25 mg/kg, Water >0.30%, Quantity shortage >3%

ISO 8217 Quality Scoring

Every delivery receives a quality score from 0-100 based on 10+ parameters measured against ISO 8217:2017 limits and supplier-port baselines.

ParameterISO 8217 Limit (RMG 380)What It MeansEngine Risk
Cat Fines (Al+Si)≤60 mg/kg (15 onboard)Aluminium silicate catalyst particles from refinery crackingCritical — causes cylinder liner wear, piston ring damage
Sulfur≤0.50% (VLSFO)Regulatory limit under IMO 2020Port State Control detention if exceeded
Water≤0.50%Water contamination in fuelInjector damage, corrosion, microbial growth
ViscosityDepends on gradeFlow characteristics at operating temperatureAffects injection timing and atomization
Density≤991 kg/m³Mass per volume — affects purifier separationOver 991: purifier cannot separate water/sediment
CCAI≤870Calculated Carbon Aromaticity Index — ignition qualityHigh CCAI = poor combustion, after-burning
Flash Point≥60°CSOLAS safety requirementBelow 60°C = fire/explosion risk, vessel detained
TRIVOYA scores each parameter individually, then calculates a weighted composite score. Scores below 60 are flagged as "concern", below 40 as "critical". Historical scores are tracked per supplier-port combination to establish baselines — so you know when Gulf Petrochem Fujairah is having a bad batch vs their normal quality.

Automated Dispute Management

When lab results deviate from BDN specs beyond thresholds, TRIVOYA auto-creates a dispute case with estimated claim value, supplier history, and supporting evidence.

⚠️

Auto-Detection

System compares lab values against BDN. If cat fines, water, sulfur, or density exceed limits, a dispute case is created with severity classification (critical/high/medium) and estimated financial claim.

📋

Case Management

Track open disputes by case number, supplier, vessel, and estimated claim. Open/close toggle for each case. Full audit trail of the verification chain — test report, BDN, and lab values side by side.

💰

Recovery Tracking

Monitor total claims raised vs total recovered. Recovery rate by supplier. Dispute history feeds into supplier scorecards — persistent quality issues automatically reduce a supplier's quality ranking.

📊

Client Reporting

Quarterly reports show total disputes, $ recovered, and supplier quality trends. Clients see the value of quality management — dispute recoveries often pay for the entire platform subscription.
